Our winner finished second in the virtual WTTC (World Time Trial Championships) 24-hour race, covering a distance of 653 km, making her the first Spaniard to achieve this feat.
This incredible challenge began on Saturday, January 16th, at 6:00 PM as an indoor cycling competition, starting at the Teatro Avenida in Bocairent. The course was a realistic simulation of the 29 km California race track. To avoid cancellation, this online solution was proposed. The course was virtually recreated, allowing participants to see their position in the race as well as that of their competitors at all times.
After two setbacks, one at 4:00 AM and another around 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 17th, María José Silvestre recovered and significantly exceeded her goal of 500 km. She surpassed her record at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, once again demonstrating her strength and determination.
Her victory is doubly gratifying because, thanks to her “Kilometers for Euros” campaign, supported by various companies including Replus, she receives two euros for every kilometer she cycles, which she donates to the local AFAB association, which supports families and friends of people with Alzheimer’s disease.
It is a great honor for us to continue supporting this amazing cyclist and even better person, who will undoubtedly bring us much joy in the future.
Congratulations, winner!
