CORONAVIRUS: SMALL ACTIONS AT HOME THAT CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Without a doubt, the spread of coronavirus has turned our lives upside down. The ease with which it spreads, combined with ignorance and misinformation, has led to a somewhat confusing situation. But as the popular saying goes, "desperate times call for desperate measures": what can we do in such a situation?

Firstly, without falling into the trap of panic, we must comply with and follow all the measures and recommendations of experts and policy makers to contain the spread.

Secondly, until the situation returns to normal, we must postpone our plans to go out and choose to stay at home as much as possible, avoiding unnecessary contact with other people.

It should be noted that a well-insulated home thanks to its windows offers many advantages. We must not forget the importance of ventilating the different rooms regularly. Replus windows can incorporate a micro-ventilation system. This system allows for slow and constant air circulation, while the window remains closed and cannot be opened from the outside. This is achieved thanks to a device that is incorporated into the window hardware and allows the window to swing between 6 and 8 millimetres.

Another important aspect is the level of humidity in our home.

When we have a humidity problem in our home, the environment is unhealthy and harmful to the people who live there. Humidity facilitates the reproduction of mites, mould, bacteria and fungi, which can aggravate respiratory problems, colds, etc. For this reason, it is vitally important to control the level of humidity, which should be between 40% and 60%. One solution is to have good windows, as well as ventilating rooms daily to prevent infection.

If we are already infected, or someone around us is, we must isolate ourselves at home and follow a series of basic measures:

  1. If possible, place the patient in a single, well-ventilated room facing the street. It is important to keep the windows and curtains open so that sunlight and wind can enter, thus renewing the atmosphere in the house.
  2. You should not receive visitors.
  3. When disinfecting and cleaning the home, do so with the windows open and from the inside out. The WHO recommends cleaning with ethanol (70º alcohol), hydrogen peroxide and bleach. Use these products to clean contact surfaces and wash the patient's clothes separately at 60º.
  4. Separate the patient's waste in a plastic bag.
